New family law Registrars provide additional expertise and resources to the Family Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia

26/08/2021

The Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia (the Courts) have announced the appointment of 42 experienced family law practitioners to provide significant support to family law Judges across Australia. These appointments form part of a widespread recruitment campaign which commenced last year, and is ongoing. The registrar resources will play an enhanced role in the new family law case management pathway which will be introduced on 1 September when the amalgamated Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia commences.

Senior Judicial Registrars, Judicial Registrars and Deputy Registrars will undertake enhanced duties and roles in the early stage of proceedings, which will alleviate some of the burden on Judges and enable them to direct significantly more of their time to the hearing and determination of complex interim applications and final hearings.
