Join the Law Council's International Law Section, for the second session of the Chief Justices Past and Present: Dispute Resolution Lecture Series – featuring the Honourable Marilyn Warren AC QC and Ms Mary Walker OAM as Chair of the session.
Australia is a country with established international commercial litigation arrangements through the state and federal courts systems, its joinder of international treaties and its participation in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
Yet Australia is one of the few common law countries with substantial commercial law jurisdictions not to have an International Commercial Court. Former Victorian Chief Justice and current international arbitrator, the Honourable Marilyn Warren AC QC, will consider the Australian experience and provide an international comparison. She will raise the jurisdictional, legislative and constitutional factors to be considered if Australia is to have an International Commercial Court.
