The long-term costs of underfunding legal aid

The President of the Law Council of Australia, Dr Jacoba Brasch QC has issued a Media Release stating Legal Aid plays a key role in ensuring all Australians have access to justice and must be adequately resourced.

Since 1997, Commonwealth Governments of all shades have dramatically reduced the share of legal aid funding when compared with the contributions of state and territory governments.
