Tomorrow: WLS NSW Barristers’ Meet and Greet
22/06/2022

Women Barristers Forum
Are you interested in helping women and children across NSW? Attend the Women’s Legal Service (WLS NSW) Barristers’ Meet and Greet tomorrow Thursday, 23 June 2022, 6-8pm to learn about the work of WLS NSW and some of the ways that you might be able to use your skills to help WLS NSW clients.
WLS NSW is a state-wide community legal centre providing free legal advice and casework services to women who are experiencing cultural, social, and economic disadvantage. WLS NSW is launching a ‘Barrister Buddy’ scheme that seeks to build and develop stronger and lasting relationships with barristers who have experience and specialised expertise in parenting litigation matters.
The scheme will involve junior and senior barristers partnering with WLS NSW in the following ways:
- Accepting a brief to advise and appear in family law parenting matters (either on a pro bono basis or funded by legal aid, in the occasional circumstances where there is a grant of legal aid available).
- Providing internal training sessions to WLS NSW staff.
- Participating in ‘lunch-&-learn’ technical presentations where unusual or complex cases are explained and discussed description.
- Providing discreet advice on complex aspects of a case.
The event will be hosted by Colin Biggers & Paisley at 2 Park Street, Sydney. Please register your RSVP with this link.
Please email Claire Palmer (Co-CPD Convenor of the Women Barristers’ Forum) should you have any queries in relation to this event.
