The NSWBA Flood Appeal Recital was held last night at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. It featured two masterful musicians; polymath Barrister Cameron Jackson (violin) along with prize winning pianist Alexey Koltakov.
The recital was extraordinary with a very substantial three course menu of three complete violin sonatas. The challenging yet inspiring repertoire explored the Baroque to the Romantic, starting with one of the warmest and most recognisable Mozart violin sonatas [G Major KV301], then moving to Handel’s “Great D Major” [HMV 371] widely regarded as a masterpiece in the genre. The talented duo concluded the program with the exquisitely beautiful and complex Brahms First Sonata [G Major Op 78]. Known as “Regensonate” (“Rain Sonata” in English) it was apt repertoire for the recital’s charitable purpose.
We are very thankful to Cameron and Alexey, not only for sharing their prodigious musical talents and huge time commitment but inspiring and creating this important charitable initiative.

All proceeds of the recital will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul Society's Flood Appeal. The Flood Appeal soon close. With more rain predicted to hit the region soon, please donate here before time runs out.
