Volunteer Expression of Interest – Special Commission of Inquiry into LGBTIQ Hate Crimes
20/09/2022

The Special Commission of Inquiry into LGBTIQ Hate Crimes is tasked with inquiring into all unsolved deaths, that are suspected to be hate crimes, of LGBTIQ people between 1970 and 2010.
It is anticipated that the Commission will be interviewing witnesses, and/or summonsing witnesses to give evidence at public or private hearings. These witnesses may include persons who are suspected of being criminally involved in matters being inquired into by the Commission.
The Commission is seeking expressions of interest from barristers to whom the Commission can refer any witnesses should they request pro bono legal advice in relation to an interview or a hearing. If you are able to assist, please send an email to legalassist@nswbar.asn.au. Please include your phone number, general availability and any relevant experience. This information will be passed on to Counsel assisting the Commission for the purpose of establishing a panel.
