International Day of Peace
21/09/2022

Today is International Day of Peace.
Established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly, the day is “devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace” by observing 24 hours of non-violence and ceasefire. That is ever more pertinent given the current global, regional and national conflict.
This year’s theme is 'End racism. Build peace'. The theme is premised on building a society where people are treated equally, regardless of their race, so as to build more stable societies, democracies and government. By tackling racism, we can foster peace.
