10th John Lehane Memorial Lecture

On Wednesday, 7 December 2022 Justice Mark Leeming will speak on the topic 'Trusts and trustees – their successes and successors' in Banco Court at 5.15pm. This event is hosted by Allens and does not require RSVPs.

Justice Leeming has been a Judge of the NSW Court of Appeal for nine years, prior to which he practised at the Bar for 18 years. He is Challis Lecturer in Equity at the University of Sydney, where he has taught part-time for 27 years. For the last 20 years Justice Leeming has co-authored editions of the leading text Meagher, Gummow & Lehane’s Equity: Doctrines & Remedies.

The lecture is held in honour of John Lehane who made a significant contribution to the study and practice of law in Australia. He was a leading banking law partner of Allen Allen & Hemsley and ultimately, Chair of the firm. In 1995, he was appointed to the Federal Court of Australia, where he served with distinction. John Lehane lectured in law at the University of Sydney for many years and was one of the three original authors of Meagher, Gummow & Lehane’s Equity: Doctrines & Remedies. He passed away in 2001 and this lecture is held in his memory.
