International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls
25/11/2022

Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. Women’s rights activists have observed 25 November as a day against gender-based violence since 1981 and the date was officially designated by the United Nations General Assembly on 7 February 2000.
This year, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls marks the launch of the UNITE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls campaign - an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on International Human Rights Day on 10 December. The campaign aims to mobilise all society to become activists for the prevention of violence against women, to stand in solidarity with women’s rights activists and to support feminist movements around the world to resist the rollback on women’s rights and to call for a world free from violence against women and girls.
