Today is the United Nations’ International Equal Pay Day, occurring annually on 18 September, to mark the longstanding efforts towards the achievement of equal pay for work of equal value. The Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s Gender Equality Scorecard for 2022-23 reports:

• a 21.7% gender pay gap;
• that 22% of CEOs in Australia are women; and
• that 34% of board members in Australia are women and 1 in 4 boards have no women.

The Law Council of Australia’s 2022-23 Equitable Briefing Annual Report also reported findings that are indicative of a persistent gender pay gap between male and female barristers. Further information about the Law Council of Australia’s Equitable Briefing Policy is available here.
