Diversity

Each year on 21 May, the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is celebrated. World Day for Cultural Diversity is a United Nations (UN) sanctioned observance day which highlights the richness of the world’s cultures and the role of intercultural dialogue in achieving peace and sustainable development.

The UN General Assembly first declared this World Day in 2002, following the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) adoption of the 2001 Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity (UDCD). The UDCD aims to improve the recognition of cultural diversity, the awareness of the unity of humankind, and the development of intercultural exchanges.

The New South Wales Bar Association is committed to fostering fairness, equity and tolerance in a manner that reflects the social and cultural diversity within the legal profession and the communities we serve.
