Bar FC defeated 3-0 in Domain Soccer League

07/07/2023

Under sunny skies, a youthful and willing Bar FC took to the field against the Reserve Bank. The Bar dominated the middle of the park in the first half through the usual silky control of Coutinho and some excellent linkage down each wing by Clark and Ryan on one side and Ionita and White on the other.

Olson, Sivanathan, Connolly and Khoury were harassing the central bankers in their own half to an extent not seen since the last rate rise while Boyle, Munce, Liu and Rizk ensured that nothing was getting through at the other end. All that was missing was a goal, although various attempts from Olson and Clark forced the Reserve Bank keeper into action and were unlucky not to be rewarded.

The half time talk of Bar FC’s stand in manager (d’Arville) was clearly not up to the standards of his opposite number, as the RBA came out firing. Shortly after the restart, a figure in grey had made it through and even the heroics of Harris could not prevent a goal.

The rest of the half was a see-sawing affair, but two long range wonder-goals from the same RBA midfielder meant that the final score was 3-0. Not a fair reflection of the enterprise and skill shown by the blue and white.

Next week’s game is against second placed Hays Recruitment, on Thursday 13 July 2023 at 1.15 pm on top of the Domain Car Park.

Yesterday’s squad was as follows: Tim Boyle - Oscar Clark - Graham Connolly - Jeh Coutinho (C) - John Harris (K) - Alexander Ionita - Antony Khoury - Thomas Liu - Darcy Munce - Nicholas Olson - Ahmed Rizk - Hannah Ryan - Ajay Sivanathan - Lachlan White.
