Supreme Court Bicentenary, 17 May 2024

Preparations are well under way for the Supreme Court’s bicentenary celebrations on 17 May 2024, marking 200 years since the Third Charter of Justice was proclaimed and Francis Forbes was sworn-in as the first Chief Justice of NSW. In addition, the court is preparing publications, interpretive displays, art exhibitions and historical tours. Already, research has uncovered several interesting items, but it’s likely that more historic paintings, photographs, and wigs are on display in chambers across Sydney.
