Swearing in of Chief Justice of Australia

The Hon Justice Stephen Gageler AC will be sworn in as Chief Justice of Australia on Monday, 6 November 2023 at 10.00am in Canberra. Justice Beech-Jones will be sworn in as a Justice of the High Court at 2.15pm that day.

The Court will also be live-streaming the proceedings to its Sydney courtroom (Level 23, Law Courts Building).

There is limited space in both Canberra and Sydney. Counsel wishing to attend are requested to inform the Court of their intention to attend by 20 October 2023 by emailing ceremony@hcourt.gov.au specifying which location and whether they would like to attend both sittings.
