Tonight: A Crèche Course in Parenting at the Bar

21/11/2023

In-person – Tuesday, 21 November 2023

The Diversity and Equality Committee is hosting a crash course on Tuesday, 21 November 2023 from 5.00pm in the Common Room on how to manage the competing pressures and demands of parenting and practising at the Bar, whilst simultaneously trying to keep your sanity! Each panel member will share their top five tips on how to navigate the chaos of dependents. The diversity of the panellists’ experiences will rebut notions of the ‘traditional family’ being the norm and address common challenges any parent in any circumstance faces given the high demands of the Bar.

The panel is comprised of Ragni Mathur SC, Catherine Gleeson SC, Scott Maybury and Natasha Case. Each of these speakers is a parent and a barrister, but as a collective they represent a diversity of experience, both professionally and personally. Members of the panel will share their ideas about working flexibly, the parenting hacks that work for them, what success looks like, and how to succeed as both parent and barrister.

The CPD will be invaluable for barristers who are in the thick of raising small humans, or barristers who are contemplating becoming parents.

Registration is essential. Please register here.

This CPD seminar will be recorded and available online at a later date.

Please provide any written questions in advance to cpd@nswbar.asn.au.
