White Ribbon Day
17/11/2023

Today is White Ribbon Day. White Ribbon Australia encourages Australians, especially men to reflect on, and take action, in overcoming violence against women.
Domestic and family violence behaviours can include, but are not limited to, intimidation, stalking, physical abuse, sexual assault, verbal abuse, threats, psychological abuse, threats to harm others, threats to damage property, damaging property, financial deprivation, social isolation and coercive control.
Between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021, the Australian Institute of Criminology’s National Homicide Monitoring Program recorded 78 domestic homicide victims in Australia - 58% (45) were female. Of all female victims of domestic homicide, 56% (25) were killed by an intimate partner. For male victims of domestic homicide, 39% (13) were killed by an intimate partner.
If you, or someone you know, experiences any type of domestic abuse, help and resources are available at 1800respect.org.au and 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732), as well as lifeline.org.au and 13 11 14. If you, or someone you know, is in immediate danger, call 000.
