Chief Justice Congratulates New Bar Council

The Chief Justice of New South Wales congratulates the members of the new Bar Council on their election, as well as the new and continuing members of the Executive of the Bar Association, and looks forward to working with the Bar as the Supreme Court celebrates its bicentenary in 2024.

The Chief Justice also wishes to acknowledge the very great contribution made to the Bar by retiring President Gabrielle Bashir SC, not only during the two terms of her Presidency but also over many years of service on Bar Council and its Executive. The New South Wales Bar is fortunate indeed to have members of Ms Bashir’s commitment and calibre to serve it and the wider legal community of our State on a completely voluntary basis. She has done so with great distinction and dedication.
