Winner of the New South Wales Bar Association/SULS 2023 Law Students’ Video Essay Competition

This year the New South Wales Bar Association’s Media and Information Law and Technology (MILT) Committee partnered with the Sydney University Law Society (SULS) to jointly host the intervarsity Law Students’ Video Essay Competition. Building on the success of the Law Students’ Blog Competition first held in 2020, the 2023 Competition asked students to submit a 10 minute video essay on the topic of ‘Legal Futurism’.

The Association is grateful for all of the submissions received and wishes to congratulate Yaashvanthi Murugan from the University of Technology Sydney, whose video essay on issues in policing the Metaverse demonstrated a clear structure, an interesting topic and creative use of the medium of video.

The Association would also like to thank the members of the judging panel, Angela Bowne SC, Daniel Meyerowitz-Katz, Michelle Meares and Dr Carolyn McKay, and SULS for their efforts in facilitating such a successful Competition.
