New definition of Domestic abuse to commence on 1 February 2024

A legal definition of ‘domestic abuse’ in section 6A of the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 (NSW) will commence on 1 February 2024. Information about the new definition is provided in a Factsheet prepared for the justice sector by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.

The new coercive control offence is set to commence separately on 1 July 2024.
