High Court decision in Fiji Times contempt case

On 27 January 2009 Fiji's military-backed government declared Rex Gardner, the publisher and acting chief executive of the Fiji Times, to be a prohibited immigrant and ordered his removal from the country. His expulsion followed a High Court ruling in which the _Fiji Times _was found to be in contempt of court for publishing a letter that criticised the court's validation of the December 2006 military coup.
