Commencement of the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Amendment (Prohibited Drug) Regulation 2009

The Drug Misuse and Trafficking Amendment (Prohibited Drug) Regulation 2009 _will commence on 5 June 2009. The object of the Regulation is to amend Schedule 1 to the _Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985. Schedule 1 lists plants and drugs that are prohibited for the purposes of the Act. The proposed amendments remove a substance that is listed under two different names and make it clear that the substance known as 4-Methoxyamphetamine is the same as the substance known as Paramethoxyamphetamine.

The Regulation is made under the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985, including sections 44 and 45 (the general regulation-making power).
