Bar football team chalks up its first win - next game on 9 July

06/07/2009

The NSW Bar Association Football team last week recorded its maiden victory in the lunchtime Domain Soccer League competition, securing a 1-0 win over BNP Paribas thanks to a late goal scored by David Patch. The team fully deserved its first win, having defended very well all game and denied our opponents any real scoring opportunities, with Colin Magee, Jack Harris and Cameron Jackson dominating proceedings. The winner came after the evergreen striker Patch sublimely controlled a beautiful through ball, turned a defender, sent the keeper the wrong way with a lovely shimmy and lashed home a cool and decisive finish. The team has slowly been building in confidence as we start focusing on the main game, namely taking on the Victorian Bar team in Melbourne in early September.

The team’s next game in the DSL is against Lands FC at 12:30pm on Thursday, 9 July and vocal support would be much appreciated.
