Changes to the ACT Bail Act

The ACT Legislative Assembly has passed the Bail Amendment Bill 2010, which will, among other things, enable the Magistrates Court to deal with breaches of Supreme Court bail on days when the Supreme Court is not sitting, such as Saturdays. The bill is the first in a series of planned measures to increase the jurisdiction of the ACT Magistrates Court and reduce backlogs in the Supreme Court.
