On Tuesday 5 April, Russell Sweet will be presenting a seminar on Costs in Criminal Matters. The session will be chaired by Tony Bellanto QC. The seminar will examine the circumstances in which an accused person who is acquitted of an offence, or is the subject of proceedings instituted by the Crown which are discontinued, can make an application for costs. On Thursday 7 April, in a session chaired by Neil Williams SC, Theresa Baw and James Hutton will be exploring the implications of the recent discussion of jurisdictional facts by the High Court in Minister for Immigration and Citizenship v SZMDS & Anor (2010) 240 CLR 611.
