Too little progress on Aboriginal deaths in custody

In the twenty years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody released its report in 1991, 269 Aboriginal people have died in custody and the majority of the 339 recommendations have not been implemented, according to the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council. Chairwoman of the NSWALC, Bev Manton, has described these facts as "simply not acceptable" and called for renewed focus on the issue.
