10/05/2011

The Commonwealth Parliament's online Hansard collection has been complemented following the completion of major digitisation project. More than 600,000 pages of transcripts have been added, covering the period from 1980 to the first sitting day, 9 May 1901. Browse many of the significant speeches delivered from the floor of the House of Representatives and the Senate, such as the maiden speech by the first Aboriginal member of parliament Sir Neville Bonner on Tuesday, 17 August 1971; or Prime Minister Robert Menzies in his address to parliament three days after the announcement of war on 6 September 1939. The Hansard is fully searchable using the Parlinfo search page.
