Law Council says Budget ignores legal assistance sector

The Law Council of Australia has expressed disappointment at the Australian Government’s failure to do more in this year’s Budget to improve access to legal services for economically and socially disadvantaged Australians. Commonwealth Attorney General Robert McClelland issued a media release citing a range of measures to improve access to justice, such as legal assistance via the National Broadband Network, additional funding to maintain High Court registries and more money for the Australian Human Rights Commission.
