$245,450 per annum plus Conveyance Allowance of $15,840 per annum
The Hon Greg Smith SC MP, attorney general of New South Wales, is seeking expressions of interest from qualified persons for appointment as a public defender under the Public Defenders Act 1995 for a seven-year fixed term that may be renewed, and subject to an initial twelve-month probationary period. Public defenders are barristers who appear throughout NSW in trials and appeals for legally-aided persons charged with serious criminal offences. This position will be based at Dubbo but the successful applicant may be required to attend other nearby regional courts as directed.
Selection Criteria: Interested persons must be Australian lawyers with extensive advocacy experience in a wide range of criminal matters, including trials and CCA appeals.
