Bernie Coles QC elected president of the Bar Association

Tom Bathurst QC has resigned as president following his appointment as chief justice of New South Wales. Consequently, the Bar Council held an extra-ordinary meeting on 17 May to elect a new president. In the ensuing ballot, the following were were elected as office bearers of the Bar Association:

Bernie Coles QC -president Phillip Boulten SC - senior vice-president Jane Needham SC - junior vice-president Ian Temby QC - treasurer Michael McHugh - secretary

In addition, Geoff Lindsay SC was elected to Bar Council to fill the vacancy left by Mr Bathurst.
