Queensland to host the annual tri-state festival of the boot

02/06/2011

The annual Suncorp Tri-State Football Challenge Cup between the New South Wales, Queensland and Victorian bars will be held north of the border this year, in Southport, on 10 September 2011. Non-playing members of the bench and bar, partners and families are welcome and encouraged to attend. The tournament will be held at The Southport School, which has excellent facilities in a picturesque setting. Dan O’Connor, the CEO of the Qld Bar Association, did an excellent job securing the venue.

The games will be combined with a Sports Law Mini-Conference at which it is expected that members from each of the bars will speak on a sports or sports-related topic of interest or significance. Expressions of interest from any members is welcome.

It is anticipated that there will be welcome drinks on Friday evening, the CLE on Saturday morning with the games immediately thereafter. Dinner and presentations will follow on the Saturday evening.

Enquiries are being undertaken with The Sheraton Mirage, which is near The Southport School, to obtain a competitive rate for accommodation. Members will be advised of the outcome of those enquiries as soon as they are to hand.

All enquiries should be directed in the first instance to Anthony Lo Surdo.
