AIJA Criminal Justice in Australia and New Zealand Conference,

Registrations will�close on Friday, 19 August for the The Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration conference in Sydney, taking place on** 7-9 September 2011.** Titled "AIJA Criminal Justice in Australia and NZ - Issues and Challenges for Judicial Administration" it will examine issues relevant to fairness and the risks of wrongful convictions, such as the effect of cross-examination on minority groups, forensic and DNA evidence in jury trials, the complexity of jury directions, expert evidence and the role of social media. **The opening oration will be delivered by the lord chief justice of England and Wales, the Rt Hon the Lord Igor Judge on 7 September at 5.30pm in the Federal Court, Queens Square. **The oration is open to the public, so please RSVP by calling (03) 9600 1311 or via email.
