It's a long-standing tradition that each year’s new silk appointments donate a gift to the Bar Association or, particularly more recently, to a number of different charities. The 23 silks of 2011 have donated a total of $72,750: $70,250 to the Children’s Medical Research Institute at Westmead and one donation of $2,500 to the Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club. **24 January 2012 **
