09/03/2012

The Australian Institute for Commercial Arbitration Inc (AICA) is formally affiliated with the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre, Victoria Law School, Victoria University Melbourne in connection with its Graduate Diploma of Commercial Arbitration. Under the Rules of the AICA there is discretion to admit experienced arbitration practitioners as Certified Arbitrators and Fellows of the AICA (without further examination) if the practitioner demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of commercial arbitration and its practical application evidencing a professional approach to parties and the public interest (âPractice Awardâ).
The AICA now calls for experienced practitioners (typically retired judges and silks) who are able to meet the Practice Award qualification to register their expressions of interest in joining AICA and becoming Certified Arbitrators and Fellows by lodging such information with the Vice President ([Prof] David L Bailey, oldbailey@vicbar.com.au ) by Friday, 19 April 2012.
