Domain Soccer League kicks off on 16 April

02/04/2012

Sydney FC's A-League season has ended (prematurely), but football fans at the bar can overcome the sense of loss by followingthe Domain Soccer League (DSL) Competition, whichkicks off on 16 April 2012. NSW Bar FCwill be competing against teams from AMP, Ausgrid, Corrs, Middletons, Reserve Bank and Treasury. Their first game is on Thursday, 19 April 2012, at 1.15 pm against Corrs. The team will be ably led by co-captains John Harris and Simon Philips.

Fixtures

Viewa copy of the fixture which highlights the games to be played by NSW Bar FC. To ensure maximum participation all games involving NSW Bar FC have been allocated a 1.15 pm start. Games will commence promptly at that time and players are requested to meet by 1 pm for a warm up and for the captain to assign playing positions.

Rules

Teams are limited to 15 with no more than 11 per team on the field.

Games are of 40 minutes duration (2 x 20 min halves) with a minute for half time.

FIFA Laws of the Games otherwise apply including the laws as to cautions and send-offs.

Essentials

All players must have a numbered jersey which I can supply on loan from week to week. (If you are currently in possession of a jersey could you please return it to me).

If you do not own a pair of royal blue shorts and royal blue football socks, I can provide you with the contact details for a supplier who can provide them at a small cost. Otherwise, dark coloured football shorts and matching football socks should be sufficient.

Shin pads are compulsory.

Plastic studded boots are likely to be permitted although the DSL is awaiting confirmation from the Domain Trust in this regard.

Waiver form

If you have played before and have completed a waiver form you will not be required to complete another form this year.

For those of you who are new to the DSL,the waiver form can be downloaded here. You arerequestedto complete it and return it toAnthony Lo Surdo SCas a PDF document.

Team allocation

John Harris, Simon Philips orAnthony Lo Surdo SCwill forward an email to squad members a few days before each fixture.

Positions will be allocated on a first in, best dressed basis up to the maximum 15.

If you have to withdraw for any reasonyou arerequested to giveas much notice as possible so that the team can be adequately resourced.

Referees’ fees

Three officials will control each fixture. Each team is responsible for payment of referees’ fees which are $30 cash per team per game. As in past years, John Harris, Simon Philips or Anthony Lo Surdo SC will be nominating a team member at random to be responsible for the referees’ fees.People are welcome tovolunteer to do so!
