Seminar for lawyers new to practice in the Federal Court

The Federal Court of Australia, NSW Registry, invites lawyers new to practice in the FCA, or who wish to know more about the work of the court, to attend an information seminar on 19 April 2012 at either 11.00am to 12.30pm or 2.00pm to 3.30pm in the Law Courts Building, Queens Square, Sydney.

The seminar will provide an overview and outline of:

• the court's jurisdiction •�individual docket system of case management •�the Federal Court's (new) Rules 2011 •�how a matter travels through the court from commencement, case management hearings, mediation, hearing, judgment and (on occasion) appeal •�Civil Dispute Resolution Act 2011 & Genuine Steps Statements •�discovery and subpoena procedures •�role of nsw duty judge, corporations duty judge and migration list judge •�court room etiquette whether before a judge, the full court, a registrar or in an eCourt Room •�registrar's corporations, bankruptcy and subpoena lists.
