Bar Association testimony before the WorkCover inquiry

22/05/2012

Yesterday, representatives of theBar Association appeared before the inquiry by the Joint Select Committee on NSW Workers Compensation Scheme. In its submission, theBar Association described the present scheme as "unwieldy and over-administered". Itidentified seven areas for reform of the scheme which would address cost pressures while maintaining the principal goal of the system to ensure that injured workers are adequately compensated for their injuries. The inquiry, and the Bar Association's submission, was the subject of a report on ABC TV news. A transcript of that report is held in the Bar Library.
