Bar FC loses to Middletons

30/05/2012

Recent adverse comments from senior members of the bar and stern criticism from some sectors of the judiciary did nothing to dampen the hopes and expectations of a vibrant and experienced NSW Bar FC when it came up against a younger, stronger and fitter troupe from Middletons on Monday, who would have been better suited in the higher ranks of the amateur leagues than on the Domain.

Middletons put on 3 unanswered goals in the first term but NSW Bar FC’s backline of Peden, Younan, de Meyrick, debutant Pouyan Afshar (recruited fresh from the readers’ course) and Captain (John) Harris in goals repelled repeated assaults to render our young rivals goal less in the second and final term. Smith and Free had solid performances in the mid-field providing a few opportunities for Tynan and Bolger up front who were unlucky not to score. A couple of long-range attempts from de Meyrick and Vickers looked impressive and were just shy of their marks. Vickers was at pains to point out that he normally plays "at altitude" and that if he'd been playing inthe Hills District the result of his shot on goal might well have been different.

NSW Bar FC next plays on** Monday, 4 June 2011 at 1.15 pm** against Reserve Bank. Members of the bar and the judiciary are always welcome to support.
