Victorian Bar adopts silk selection process - for 2012

06/06/2012

The Victorian Bar Councilhas adopteda newmodel for senior counsel appointments, which was contained in a discussion paper released late last year. It is described as"a court-based system, with the chief justice centrally involved as the appointor".This, the VictorianBar says, "provides independence and impartiality from the practising profession, confidentiality and candour in the consultation process, and appropriate recognition of the importance of the office of senior counsel.” View the [media release][1] | View the Victorian Bar's discussion paper>
