Sydney Law School intensive course: Registered Associations (ADVERTISEMENT)

Sydney Law School has announced a�new labour law unit for 2012: Registered Associations, taught by Ingmar Taylor of State Chambers.�This Semester 2 intensive course will be held on 10-11 & 24-25 August 2012 **and will attract CPD points. **It will examine the law governing trade unions and employer organisations in Australian industrial relations.

Under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) awards no longer have parties and individual employees can be bargaining agents - what role does the legislation contemplate for industrial associations? With assistance from senior practitioners as guest speakers, this unit will examine the history of trade union law, why and how employer and employee organisations are registered, what powers they have and the rules by which they must operate.
