Government remuneration bill an attack on judicial independence

Bar Association President Phil Boulten SC has criticised the New South Wales Government for introducing a bill into state parliament which will compromise the independence of the judiciary. _The Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Amendment (Judicial and Other Office Holders) Bill _, effectively curbing future increases in judicial salaries to 2.5%, is at odds with the independent determination of the NSW Remuneration Tribunal made only in October last year.
