Wanted: judges for the Macquarie University Law Society mooting competition

26/02/2013

Macquarie University Law Society is seeking lawyers to assist in judging its competitions. In 2013 semester 1, there are three competitions for students: Senior Mooting, Junior Mooting and Client Interview. Each competition has three rounds, which will occur fortnightly over March and April.

In recent years, MULS Competitions has developed substantially. Internally, in 2011 student participation at least doubled in every competition. In 2012, there were 7 separate competitions that accommodated over 500 students. Externally, they have also experienced great success in recent years. In 2010 at the Australian Law Society Association (ALSA) Conference, Macquarie University were crowned the ALSA Mooting and Client Interview champions, beating over 42 law schools throughout Australasia. As a result, MULS sent teams to represent Australasia at the Commonwealth Law Moot in India and the International Client Consultation Competition in the Netherlands in 2011 with much success. In 2011, MULS was crowned the ALSA Negotiations Champions.

To accommodate the increase in participation in their internal competitions, they are in need of judges. To this end, any support that the bar can provide would be highly valued. Without the efforts of volunteers, they simply would be unable to run these competitions.
