Shoot for the Bar: Award winners announced!

03/06/2013

The Bar Association’s efforts to promote National Reconciliation Week were celebrated last Friday evening at the awards for the "Shoot for the Bar" competition, which encouraged participants to submit photographs that represented creative ways of increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander barristers in NSW. Some fabulous entries were received. The Hon Justice Michael Slattery addressed the ceremony’s attendees and presented awards to the winner.

Judge’s Award: Kate Eastman SC for the first picture in her "Lake Mungo series April 2013", which can be viewed here. The judge of the competition, Tamara Dean, a multi-award winning photographic artist represented by Olsen Irwin Gallery, said Kate’s conceptual piece was "thoughtful, visually engaging and well executed."

**The People’s Choice Award: **Tina Jowett (with 35 per-cent of the votes) for her entry "After the Claim".

The Bar Association thanks everyone who participated in the Photo Competition and encourages its members to peruse the Reconciliation Action Plan.

We would also like to thank our competition sponsors who generously donated the prizes for all our winners and entrants:
