NSWLRC inquiry into criminal appeals processes
03/07/2013

The NSW Law Reform Commission is reviewing criminal appeals processes in NSW, with a view to simplifying and streamlining them, and consolidating criminal appeal provisions into a single Act. A copy of the terms of reference may be viewed here.
The Commission has released Question Paper 1 to obtain views on the issues that require reform.
Members of the Bar Association are invited to make submissions which: ⢠identify problems with the current criminal appeals process in NSW or areas where law reform is required ⢠provide views on the issues raised in the question paper, and ⢠identify any other issues we may have missed that require further investigation.
The closing date for submissions is Friday, 16 August 2013. Information about how to make a submission is contained in the question paper. Submissions will likely be published on the NSWLRC website and if members wish their submissions to remain confidential then they should advise the commission accordingly.
If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact Emma Hoiberg on (02) 8061 9289 or emma_hoiberg@agd.nsw.gov.au.
