On the spot fines are on the rise
01/04/2014

Attorney General Greg Smith SC has announced that Criminal Infringement Notices for offensive language and offensive behaviour have risen to $500, while continued intoxicated and disorderly behaviour after a move on direction will now attract a fine of $1100. The changes took effect yesterday, 31 March 2014. “The message to drunken thugs is clear: violent, offensive and anti-social behaviour simply won’t be tolerated. Anyone ignoring that message should prepare to learn a very expensive lesson,” Mr Smith said. View the attorney's media release here.
