Yesterday afternoon in the Domain Soccer Competition Bar FC played against a strong Sydney Business School side. The Business School dominated the game for the early first half, but due to some great goal saving dives from our keeper Kuklik, plus determined defence from our backs Phillips, Fredericks and Larish, the Bar was able to keep the Business School scoreless until late in the first half.

A great shot from 20 metres out by the Bar’s Coutinho just missed out on caressing the nets as it skimmed above the goal post. Hartford-Davis and Lang played strongly in the midfield and the Bar was unlucky not to score in the first half.

At half-time the score was 1-nil in favour of the Business-School. In the second half the Bar’s Aitkenhead, playing only in her 2nd game for the Bar, performed strongly in the midfield in both attack and defence, and had an outstanding shot at goals from close to the side line, and was unlucky to miss out on a goal. Morrison broke through the Business School defenders on numerous occasions and was unlucky not to score. Despite our keeper performing some great saves, the Business School scored their second goal. The game ended 2 to nil in favour of the Business School, with full time blown as Lang put his body on the line and went down with an ankle injury.

The line-up today for the Bar was:

  • Elly Aitkenhead
  • Jeh Coutinho
  • Hugh Morrison
  • Sebastian Hartford Davis
  • Geoff O’Shea
  • David Larish
  • Simon Philips (C)
