New titles and roles for registrars of the Federal Court

23/05/2018

The functions and titles of Federal Court registrars are to be overhauled in the latest extension of the National Court Framework (NCF) reforms. Chief Justice James Allsop AO has written to President Arthur Moses SC, informing him that in addition to current functions:

... registrars will support National and Registry Coordinating Judges with the judicial management of each NPA [National Practice Area], including the development of new, or the enhancement of existing, NPA user groups.

New registrar titles will apply from Monday, 28 May 2018. Members should continue to refer to registrars in court in the usual way - i.e. "Registrar". Registrars of the Federal Court are also registrars of the Federal Circuit Court, but the change to titles applies only within the Federal Court.
