President's Message

15/12/2025

On behalf of the NSW Bar Association, I offer my deepest condolences to those affected by the despicable act of terrorist violence perpetrated in Bondi on Sunday evening.

This reprehensible attack during the celebration of Hanukkah is a tragedy for those of the Jewish faith and the broader community of which we are all part. Jewish members of the Bar, and the wider Jewish community, have the Association’s full support.

Confidential and independent counselling is available to NSW barristers and their families by contacting BarCare on 0427 317 958. The NSW Government has also stood up mental health support, including trained disaster mental health support clinicians. More information is online at Mental health support in response to Bondi Beach incident or call NSW Health’s dedicated Mental Health Line, which is available 24/7 on 1800 011 511.

The NSW Police have activated the Public Information and Inquiry Centre for information relating to people impacted by the incident. The phone number is 1800 227 228 or more information is available online at Latest News - NSW Police Public Site.

Members are encouraged to offer any assistance to those who may be suffering, and to stay connected with colleagues, friends and family as the end of the year approaches.
