20th Transgender Day of Remembrance

19/11/2019

20 November 2019 is the 20th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), honouring the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost to acts of anti-transgender violence in the year prior. In anticipation of this anniversary, Eloise Brook, media spokesperson for the NSW Gender Centre set out to find as many names of the unremembered dead as she could, to add to this year’s TDoR. However, after 6 months of searching the trail went cold until, on 21 September Filipina transgender woman Mhelody Bruno was murdered in Wagga. Further information about Eloise’s project and comprehensive resources for Australia’s trans and gender diverse community are available here.
