The Panel is supported by Kate Eastman SC (Bar Councillor and Chair of the Association’s Diversity and Equality Committee), Jeh Coutinho (Clerk, Banco Chambers) and Elizabeth Pearson (the Association’s Director of Policy and Public Affairs).
The Bar Association established the Panel in October 2019 to consider, address and respond to matters involving disability, access and inclusion, and assist in the delivery of the aims and objectives of barristers with a disability. The Panel’s work will also address access issues in built environments, such as Chambers and court buildings, that affect people working at or visiting those locations. Members are encouraged to contact the Panel at any time if they would like to share their experiences, concerns and ideas on these important issues.
The Panel will shortly begin preparing a submission to the Disability Royal Commission and would welcome input from members. For information, the Commission’s terms of reference are available here.
