Last chance to submit expressions of interest: NSWBA float – 2026 Mardi Gras Parade
05/12/2025
For the first time, the NSW Bar Association will have a float in the Mardi Gras Parade, which is taking place on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The float intends to promote and celebrate the contribution of barristers to cases of significance to the LGBTQIA+ community.
We are looking for barristers, clerks, floor staff members, and staff of the Association to participate in the float. If you are interested, please complete the form below by this Friday, 5 December 2025. Participants will need to be available during the afternoon and evening of 28 February. They will also need to participate in two rehearsals in the lead up to the parade for the purpose of learning (very simple) choreography (times to be confirmed).
Anyone who is not based in Sydney is particularly encouraged to apply if they are able to travel to Sydney for the Parade. Alternative arrangements can be made for rehearsals if that would create difficulties for those who do not live in Sydney.
Participants may also be asked to make a contribution to the cost of costumes, props etc., which may be up to $100 per person (to be confirmed once the final cost is known).
The costumes for the float will be sparkly and/or colourful robes, and props may include gavels as well as placards that will feature images and newspaper headlines referring to cases of LGBTQIA+ significance.
If you’re interested, please complete this form. Please note that spots are limited.
